Practice Areas

Estate Planning
Our law firm has broad experience in all matters relating to the estate planning field from preparation of simple wills, to completion of extremely complex estate plans. The firm deals extensively in revocable living trusts, life insurance trusts, irrevocable trusts for children and grandchildren, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, qualified personal residence trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts and sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts. Our firm is dedicated to working closely with our clients to provide customized estate planning solutions designed to facilitate an efficient transfer of assets to beneficiaries while minimizing Federal Estate Taxes.

Probate and Trust Administration
Our firm routinely handles various matters in all areas of probate and post-mortem trust administration. We routinely assist clients with:

• Beneficiary notifications
• Filing of the proper probate legal pleadings with the Court
• Asset identification, inventory, and valuation
• Asset and liability allocation
• Transfer document preparation
• Distribution and termination advisement

Our firm has vast experience in dealing with the complexities relating to all estate and trust taxation matters. This includes providing advice with respect to Federal and State Estate Tax Returns, as well as the review of returns prepared by outside accountants and specialists. The firm provides ongoing guidance to identify, evaluate and determine proper sub-trust and beneficiary allocations and funding of assets. Our attorneys work with the Trustee to maximize all tax benefits and confirm distribution and funding per the terms of the Trust.

Asset Protection
Asset protection planning to protect and preserve your assets has become an important part of any comprehensive estate or financial plan. Our firm provides clients with comprehensive and customized asset protection advice and planning. Nevada is also one of the few states that has adopted the domestic asset protection trust. Under Nevada law, subject to certain limitations and “waiting periods”, clients can create a trust for their benefit which may make it difficult for a creditor to access assets transferred to the trust.

Charitable Planning
In addition to estate planning, the firm is well versed in the formation and operational requirements of charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and various types of charitable entities, including private foundations, operating foundations and public charities. Several members of the firm sit on and provide advice to the governing boards of certain large charitable organizations.

Business Planning and Transactions
The firm provides services in the areas of business planning and transactions including business formations. These services include business start-ups, cross-purchase and stock redemption agreements, compensation arrangements and business sales, mergers, asset sales and related transactions including financing arrangements. The firm has also been frequently involved in helping resolve disputes among family members in closely-held businesses.

Tax Controversy
Our firm has extensive experience representing taxpayers in disputes with the IRS, the California Franchise Tax Board and the Nevada Department of Taxation, often involving multi-million dollar issues. Our firm also provides advice and representation on state sales and use tax issues.

Gaming
Our firm provides representation to clients in licensing and administrative matters before the Nevada State Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission, with a primary focus on the application process.
