Mark Knobel was born in San Diego, California and is currently
a shareholder in the law firm of Avansino, Melarkey, Knobel, Mulligan
& McKenzie where he primarily practices Estate Planning, Wealth
Transfer, Business and Corporate Law, Federal and State Tax and
Charitable Planning, which encompasses providing advice on business
transactions, wills and trusts, estate settlements, trust settlements,
and estate and gift taxes related thereto. Mr. Knobel received his
undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1976,
his law degree from McGeorge School of Law in 1982, where he was
a member of the Traynor Honor Society and received his Master’s
in Tax Law from the University of Miami in 1988. Mark was admitted
to the State Bar of Nevada in 1982 and has been in private practice
here in Reno since 1983.
Mr. Knobel is a member of the Washoe County Bar Association,
the American Bar Association, the Nevada State Bar (former Chairperson
for the Probate and Trust Committee) and the Northern Nevada Estate
Planning Council. Mark is also an Accredited Estate Planner by the
National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. For over
10 years, he has been rated in Best Lawyers in America- Trusts and
Estates and has been rated in Best Lawyers in America- Tax for over
3 years. Mr. Knobel is a trustee of the Thelma B. and Thomas P.
Hart Foundation and the Jack Van Sickle Foundation. In addition
to his involvement in Charitable Planning, Mark is a former Chair
of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, a former Member of
the Board for Nevada Security Bank and is a past Chairman of the
Board and Board Member at KNPB, past Founding Board Member and emeritus
Board of Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, Founding Member
of Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and past Board Member of St. Mary’s
Foundation and Washoe Legal Services.
Mark is married to Mary K. Knobel who received a degree in journalism
from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1988. Mark and Mary K. have
two sons, John and Clark. In addition to Mr. Knobel’s involvement
in his community and his support of local charities and organizations,
he is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys skiing, fishing, hunting,
boating, and loves being a spectator at his children’s sporting
events.
